Today marks 20 years since Usher released his sophomore album, My Way. The album debuted at #16 on The Billboard 200 Album Chart with first-week sales of 66,000 (it later rose to #4) and has sold over 6 million copies in the U.S. It produced three hit singles: You Make Me Wanna…, Nice & Slow and My Way which charted on The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart at #2, #1 and #2 respectively. Usher received two Grammy nominations for My Way, won three Billboard Music Awards (including Artist of Year award), a Soul Train Music Award and a Blockbuster award. Critics widely regard My Way to be Usher’s breakthrough after his self-titled 1994 debut failed to make a splash. In addition, the album’s success set the tone for the even larger mainstream popularity he would see in the 2000s.
